Gordon Welters/Berlin, Germany

Gordon is a freelance photographer with a focus on portrait, corporate and documentary. In 1994, at the age of 20, he bought his first camera. He was eager to document his own life: the places he traveled to and the people whom he met on the way. Ten years later, he studied photo journalism at London College of Communication. Since 2006 Gordon is represented by photo agency laif.
Today, based in Berlin, his assignments are mostly for German and international magazines, newspapers (including the New York Times since 2009) as well as non-governmental organizations, companies and advertising agencies. In addition to photography commissions, he works on personal projects focusing on relevant social issues. For Gordon, the key challenge in photography is empathy - to build rapport with strangers immediately. It's a challenge, that he was gladly accepting, day by day.
