Playing in the Sun
In collaboration with my wife, Dr. Griselda Rodriguez-Solomon Ph.D, we created this portrait project to give self-identified Afro-Dominicans a place to share their stories. In the Dominican Republic, children are repeatedly dissuaded from playing in the sun for fear of darkening their skin. Afro-Dominicans in the United States have defied these messages and boldly embrace a Black identity. Now they proudly play in the sun.
