Simona Ghizzoni/Rome, Italy
Simona Ghizzoni was born in Reggio Emilia in 1977.
Since 2005 Ghizzoni has committed herself to reportage and personal research
projects, especially concerning the condition of women.
She won the 3rd prize single portrait at World Press Photo 2008 with an image part of
her work “Odd Days”, a work on eating disorders which in 2009 has been awarded with Photoespaña Ojodepez Award for Human Values.
Her works have been exhibited at Paris Photo 2008-2009-2010 through the Forma Foundation for Photography gallery, based in Milan.
With “Afterdark”, a long-term project focused on the consequences of war on women, she won the third prize Contemporary Issues singles at the World Press Photo 2012.
Simona lives in Rome.
She is represented by Contrasto and the gallery FORMA in Milan and Redux Pictures in North America.
