Bryan grew up in Michigan and studied photography at Western Kentucky University where he received a BA in photography. He is a freelance photographer based in New York. He contributes regularly to The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and ProPublica while covering news and feature stories around the world.
His work has been recognized by Pictures of the Year International, The Alexia Foundation for World Peace, Getty Images Grants for Editorial Photography, Visa Pour l’Image, the National Press Photographers Association, among others.
